Dr. Abhay Raghukant Vasavada is the founder director of Raghudeep Eye Hospital-REH and Iladevi Cataract & IOL Research Centre -ICIRC. He has been instrumental in establishing Phacoemulsification as a standard of care, in the entire world.
Alongwith REH team he has developed several techniques and has made important contributions to the understanding and practice of adult and pediatric cataract surgery.
His contribution to ophthalmology has been recognized worldwide. Some of the most prestigious awards include the Honorary doctorate – PhD by University of Hungary, Binkhorst Gold Medal in 2011 by the ASCRS, Arthur Lim Oration by the APACRS and the National Best Researcher Award.
To his credit, he has more than 190 publications and trained 150 national and 50 international ophthalmologists.
